Raised in the oilfields of Greenwood Co. Earned a BS in History & Political Science/Jurist Doctorate of Law, J.D. from Washburn University. Practiced law in Augusta from 1960 - 1999. Owned and operated the Burkett Oil Lease in Greenwood County for approximately 30 years. Presently serves as Chairman of the Board and CEO of the First National Bank in Fredonia. He is also a rancher and livestockman in Greenwood Co. Member of the Kansas Independent Oil and Gas Association
