Pictured is just a piece of our display that tells the story of Butler County's first newspaper, the Walnut Valley Times. People who had a significant influence on shaping the newspaper include Alvah Shedlen, William Allen White, TB Murdock, Rolla Clymer, Jessie Perry Stratford, Bertha Shore, and Jean Plummer.

This display has the first edition from March 4, 1870, with articles and headlines ranging through the 2000s.

Additionally, we have books and bookends that belonged to William Allen White and a digital archive with the 1896 Walnut Valley Times special edition, primarily written by women.

Come visit us during regular hours to enjoy this collage of history!
